Every child is unique, learns differently, and deserves to be known. Our student support staff bring together academic, social-emotional, and behavioral support with care for the whole person.
Academic support
Our Resource Coordinator and interventionists work alongside classroom teachers to provide extra academic support to students most in need.
St. Croix Catholic School partners with Groves Learning Organization to provide explicit, systematic instruction rooted in research on how children effectively acquire literacy. It emphasizes essential foundational skills including phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension to ensure early learners achieve automatic word recognition and reading fluency in grades K–3. The curriculum builds comprehension skills through rich oral language practice, explicit vocabulary instruction, and content-driven novel studies in upper elementary and middle school. This structured literacy approach equips students to confidently transition from “learning to read” to “reading to learn.”
St. Croix Catholic School provides additional intervention time for students who would benefit from one-on-one or small group instruction.
Social-emotional and behavioral support
Our Student Support Coordinator works alongside classroom teachers to help students who need extra social-emotional and behavioral support.
St. Croix Catholic School takes a whole-child approach to formation and wellbeing, recognizing that students’ spiritual, academic, social, and emotional development are interconnected. In keeping with this vision of whole-child development, the Student Support Coordinator accompanies students, families, and teachers in supporting students’ social, emotional, and behavioral growth.
Through individual support, small-group collaboration, and classroom lessons, the Student Support Coordinator helps students develop self-awareness, self-regulatory skills, healthy relationships, and effective communication skills.
