In the elementary years, children build the foundation that everything else rests on: a love of learning, strong habits of work and prayer, and the confidence that comes from being known and challenged.

A foundation in faith and the liberal arts

From Kindergarten through Grade 5, students grow in reading, writing, mathematics, science, physical education, and the arts, with the Catholic faith woven through the whole day rather than set beside it.

A day of learning

Our youngest readers are taught through the science of reading, building a strong base in phonemic awareness and phonics so that decoding becomes second nature and comprehension can flourish. From there, students read widely across history and literature, always asking what a text reveals about the human person and the God who made us.

Students gather the building blocks of mathematics in the elementary years. By the upper grades they are already working with early algebraic ideas, which prepares them for our rigorous middle school program.

Through the Full Option Science System (FOSS), children learn by doing, with hands-on experiments and investigations into life cycles, weather, and the way mathematics lives inside the natural world.

Music, art, and physical education round out the week, and technology is introduced thoughtfully and in its place.

Knowing every learner

Teachers pair everyday observation with assessments including NWEA MAP and aimswebPlus to understand where each child is and to tailor instruction accordingly. Our Resource Support staff work alongside classroom teachers so that every student is met and helped to grow.

FAITH & FORMATION

Faith woven through the day

Our youngest students are formed through religion classes, introduced to Theology of the Body through the Ruah Woods curriculum, challenged to grow in holiness through the Virtues in Practice program, and led to encounter Christ more deeply through weekly Catechesis of the Good Shepherd classes.

We gather as a school for Mass each week and Eucharistic Benediction each month.

Our Catholic faith is an integral part of who we are and the formation we offer each child.
