Great Things Happening in SCCS’s Google Classrooms

SCCS’s Technology Coordinator, Mrs. Lisa Olsen, has been in the thick of onboarding teachers, students, and parents through these Home Learning weeks. Day in and day out, Mrs. Olsen is struck by the teachers’ commitment to learn new digital tools so that they can continue to provide quality, comprehensive instruction.  “I always knew that SCCS had an incredible teaching staff, but nothing could have prepared me for how far and fast our teachers have come along in embracing technology to deliver digital instruction to our students. It’s really quite amazing the amount and quality of instruction that is happening every day using St. Croix Catholic’s Google Classrooms.”

Below is just one example of the dozens and dozens of Great Things Happening every day in St. Croix Catholic’s Google Classrooms.

Middle School Math Starts with Prayer

Middle School Math class starts with prayer, and then Mrs. Duex follows with tailored instructional videos for each of the subjects she teaches: Course II, Pre-Algebra, Algebra, and Geometry. In her daily videos, Mrs. Duex flips the screen with Screencastify so students can see as she’s working out the problems. She can piece in worksheets and quizzes into the class agenda using tools like EdPuzzle and Google Forms, as well as utilize external resources such as Kahn Academy when students need additional practice.
